Andrew begins playing basketball

Andrew is finally old enough to play basketball, one of his favorite sports! Michael is actually helping coach his team, which I really don't see how he is able to do that with his Middle School ball schedule. It seems to be working right now, luckily the head coach is a good friend who understands!
Andrew had his very first basketball game this past Saturday, and I was so proud of him! He played like he's been playing for years! He's been around basketball now since he was a year old, it's in him, but I wasn't sure how he'd actually do playing on the court with others. He scored 4 points for his team and was the one that took the ball up the court most of the time. I was one proud moma!
The entire team did awesome...can't wait to see how they do the rest of the season! I love being able to experience this with my kids!

Tball has been over now several weeks, I'm just now getting a chance to update my blog! Andrew had the absolute best time playing tball this season. I'm so glad he is finally old enough to play sports. Andrew is a sports fanatic...at 4 years old his favorite television show is SportsCenter on ESPN, I'm not joking either!
He had a great season, and I know he was sad to see it come to an end! Here are just a few pictures of him and some of the friends he got to play with this season!

T-Ball Begins

Andrew couldn't be happier...he got to start playing T-Ball this year! He has had a total of 2 practices already, but the 1st practice he wasn't feeling good, so he didn't get all into it! Monday night he had practice and you would think he was playing professional ball...it was too funny! His practice wasn't until 6:30, but right after I picked him up from school he was wanting to get dressed to play, he has all the baseball garb! I think he asked me 1000 times if it was time for practice yesterday afternoon!
I'm so thrilled he is getting to play, he is obsessed with ball and he is so into it! God has blessed me with an active little boy and I couldn't be happier!

Andrew's 4th birthday

I absolutely can not believe that it is here...Andrew will be 4 tomorrow at 5:41 pm! I still remember this night 4 years ago, I had just seen the doctor for a check-up the day before and had asked for sleeping pills because I wasn't sleeping at 38 weeks pregnant! Well, Michael had picked up the prescription for me and I had taken the Ambien only to be awake all night with contractions! I remember even calling the hospital in the wee hours of the morning, but we weren't ready to go to the hospital! The next morning, October 20 I called the doctor and they said head to the hospital. When I got to the hospital they determined that yes I was in labor and we would have a baby that day! At 1 pm he broke my water and at 5:41 pm we had a brand new baby boy, whom we didn't have a name for...a couple hours later we decided on Andrew Michael Keown! He is a joy and 100% boy! God has blessed our family by giving us this precious life to take care of, we are so proud of him!

Tonight, October 19 we decided we would go ahead and celebrate his birthday because tomorrow is Wednesday and we'll be at church until late. I cooked supper for the four of us and we had birthday cake and gave Andrew the coolest present a 4 year old could want, a "dirt track" as Andrew calls it (it's actually a bicycle that looks like a motorcycle). I was worried he would be disappointed in this year's birthday "party" because we weren't doing a whole lot to celebrate it as far as family and a party goes, but I think he was really excited to have his "dirt track." I look forward to the many miles that he will be putting on this bicycle! Happy Birthday to my sweet "little man"! I love you, Andrew Michael Keown!

Andrew starts Pre-K...because Mommy has job!

Andrew started Pre-K at the Creative Learning Center this past Monday, August 23 and he did fabulous! He enjoyed his class and even made several new friends. He started school because mommy is now employed with Macon County Schools in Franklin, NC as a middle school counselor! So far I'm loving my job! It's going to be an adjustment for our family, but I know that the Lord is in control and He will take care of us all!

No More Diapers...

I am so very proud of my 3 year old son, Andrew!!! He is now fully potty trained..NO MORE DIAPERS!!!! This is a great feeling! However, it does mean that he is growing up and I have no more babies in my house! I can not believe how fast time has flown, it still feels like just yesterday that I brought him home from the hospital!

He has been so much easier than Carrie in potty training ,however we did have to transition from diaper to pull-ups to underwear with Andrew, but not with Carrie (but she was nearly 4 before she was potty trained). It probably also helps that he has an olders sibling to watch and learn from!

Again, I am so proud of my big boy, Andrew! Way to go!!!!

What a weekend!!!

This is going to be a weekend to remember for years to come!!! It all started on Friday morning when Christina, my sister-in-law, began having contractions and we all were hoping labor would begin very soon!! I decided to head to south Georgia in the hopes that baby Colt would be born this weekend. I arrived in Coolidge around 10:45 and as soon as I walked in the door Mr. Mike told me that her water had broke...I was thrilled I had come on down to meet my new baby nephew sometime in the next 24 hours!

Saturday we headed to the hospital around 10 am (I really had thought the night before he would be born before I awoke the next morning) to wait for baby Colt's arrival. A few hours later, around 2:00 pm the doctor's decided a C-section was necessary. So at 2:09 pm Colt Matthew Keown arrived on this earth weighing 7 lbs 11 oz and 21 in. long. He's a cutie and his cousins were there to see him as he came out of the OR..I'm glad I brought them home for that!

On Sunday we were able to attend homecoming at First Newark Baptist Church, what a great bunch of folks! It was a wonderful service...the music was excellent, the preaching was great and the food was awesome! Newark will always feel like home to me! During lunch Andrew was not feeling good, but I just thought his allergies were getting to him, he was running a low grade 99.6 temp, so I didn't think anything about it! I was planning on heading north Sunday afternoon but I was too exhausted because of the lack of sleep Friday night (waiting on the baby) and Saturday night (Andrew didn't sleep), so I was going to take a nap and then leave after we woke up...well Andrew began getting sick. That evening he required a breathing treatment but perked right up...no worries on my end! So I decided to wait until Monday morning to leave.

Monday morning we awoke and he was definitely not feeling well...he was just laying around (which is NOT normal behavior for him). I called the doctor after much debate but I wanted to make sure it was not the flu, since we had all been around the baby. I'm so thankful that I called the doc, they got us in at 10:00 am. We showed up at doc office and Dr. Cooper immediately gave him a breathing treatment and then started fluids. About 30 minutes after fluids and a breathing treatment she came in and gave me a diagnosis...Pnemonia! So she gave me a choice...A. you can take him home push fluids, give him antibiotics and steriods and breathing treatments every 3-4 hours or B. you can take him to the hospital. I asked her what she would do if it were her Andrew (her son is also Andrew) and she said she'd take him to the hospital...so that's what we did! We were being admitted into the hospital as Baby Colt and Christina were being discharged!

We spent Monday afternoon, Monday night and all day Tuesday in the hospital. And Tuesday was Andrew's 3rd birthday...not the place you want to spend you birthday!!! He did get several birthday presents brought to the hospital for him that day..which he enjoyed and is still enjoying! By Tuesday mid-morning Andrew was feeling much better and he was ready to go, but we had to wait to see the doctor. She did release us that evening because we had a nebulizer to give breathing treatments with..now we are in Coolidge getting well. I have to do the breathing treatments with him every 4-6 hours and give him his antibiotics and steriods (which he HATES)..we see Dr. Cooper in the morning for a check up and hopefully he is good to go!

It is so hard seeing your baby being sick and not being able to make him feel better! I could feel the presence of the Lord with us and I know He was taking care of my baby!! It has been a very eventful weekend..one I won't forget!!!

No more...PACI

On May 26 we could not find Andrew's Paci and so we decided that we would take it away from him for good! I was dreading that night because I just knew he would scream the entire night, he was used to sleeping not only with 1 paci, but 2 (one in his mouth and one in his hand). Well, Michael told him we couldn't find it and that'd have to sleep without it. Andrew cried for maybe 5 minutes before falling asleep. He then slept until I woke him up at 8:15 the next morning, that's the latest he's slept in a LONG time!! Maybe I should have taken it away a long time ago?!? The next day he found a couple of his pacis in various places in the house, he brought them to me and I put them up.

My baby is no longer a baby! It's really quite sad to me. He's growing up way too quickly. Why can't they stay little longer??? I miss the baby stage, but I also enjoy the stage he is in now.


Now it's time for potty-training, anyone have suggestions??? :)

Egg Hunt

Today we had a fun day! We colored Easter Eggs this morning. Andrew was hilarious, he spilt orange egg dye everywhere, but it cleaned up! We were also invited to go to an Easter Egg Hunt at a church member's house and it was a ball! Andrew had so much fun running and playing with the other kids that were there, he had even more fun when it came time to hunt eggs! I think he collected about 30 eggs! There were eggs everywhere!!! Here are a few pictures from today's festivities! I know I'll post more tomorrow of him in his Easter outfit.
Carrie is in South Georgia with KK and Papa and I sure am missing her! I know she's having a great time though! Can't wait to see her in a few days! We decided to let her go south because she wanted to go to KK and Papa's all by herself! It's hilarious, she loves spending time with them alone without me and andrew is what she says! I'll post pictures of her as soon as KK emails me some!

Well, some of you know that one of my favorite things to do is take pictures of my children. I like taking pictures of others as well! I decided that since Carrie is with KK and Papa I would take Andrew out for his very own photo shoot. When there are 2 kids it's hard to get individual pictures. Well, Andrew is hilarious! You'll see in some of the pictures when he says cheese joy is written all over his face! He is such a cutie and I am so blessed to have him as a part of my life. I'm blessed to have both of my children as part of my life! God is good!!
