Let School Begin

A couple of  weeks ago school began for Rabun County! I, in Franklin, started the week before my kids and hubby! It has been an adjustment getting back into a routine, hopefully we will continue to perfect that routine!
The kids are enjoying school and love their teachers. Michael is loving his new schedule at school, which is 3 classes of Technology in the mornings and 3 classes of PE in the afternoons....he is very excited about teaching some PE classes. I am loving my job as a school counselor, I'm staying super busy already!
I'm looking forward to a wonderful 2011-2012 school year!!!!

PS: My computer is acting funny...I have pictures but I can't upload them :(

Literature Fun Day

Saturday Rabun County had school and Rabun Gap Community School had "Literature Fun Day" where the kids could dress up as their favorite book character. Carrie chose to dress like Junie B. Jones from "Junie B is a beauty shop guy." The story is about Junie cutting her hair and it says her hair looks like "sprigs." I tried making "sprigs" without cutting any hair :)...we did make "sprigs" somewhat!
She had an absolute blast!
Oh yeah, she's up to over 200 AR points now...so proud of her!

My Big 1st Grader

Carrie started 1st grade this past Monday, August 16. She has Ms. Julie Speed for her teacher and Ms. Sarah Aiken is her teacher's assistant. I already love both of them and I know it's going to be an awesome year! Here are a few pictures from our morning!

Carrie's 1st day of Kindergarten

The morning started off a little rocky, but we made it to school on time and almost every hair was in place!!! Andrew wet himself right before we walked out of the door to take Carrie to school and so of course I had to get him to the bathroom and then changed...I was on edge by that point!!!

We made it to school before 8 am and walked in the classroom. Carrie clung to my leg for just a minute and then finally sat in her seat and began doing her classwork that Mrs. Page had for them to do. I gave her a hug and left...no tears from either of us, that was an accomplishment!!!!

By lunch time I was missing her and wondering how her day was going, but I knew she was in great hands. I laid Andrew down for his nap and then I went to cleaning bathrooms...got them all clean, yeah!!!! After I got done I woke Andrew up, who was not ready to awaken, and we headed to the school to get Carrie. I had no idea what she'd say or how she'd act. Well she got in the car and the first words out of her mouth were "Mommy I like Kindergarten!" I was relieved!! She talked nonstop for about an hour about school and what all she had done and talked about her friends. I know it's going to be a great year for her!!! I still can not believe that she is in kindergarten, time has truly flown by!!!
