Carrie is in LOVE!!!!

Carrie has come home telling us of a little boy in her class, Jackson, that she is "in love with." I keep asking myself if this is a forewarning of what is to come, I pray she is not going to be boy crazy!!
It is rather quite comical...I want to die laughing every time she tells me that she and Jackson are in love. Where did she get this "in love" thing from??

A funny story from last week:

Carrie came home from school talking about these 3 boys that were chasing her on the playground, she said she didn't like it one bit. She said they kept messing with her but Jackson was protecting her (her exact words). Apparently (this is coming from her teacher's son, who is one of Michael's students) that Jackson was protecting her and he tackled these 3 boys straight to the ground! Then Jackson kissed her on the cheek...(that was talked about for a while at school, all the teachers heard about "the kiss"). She told me that the boys were chasing her because they knew she and Jackson were in love and they were going to get married. HUH!?! My daughter is already talking about getting married...when I was 5 I thought boys were gross and the only man I wanted to marry was my daddy...
I'm not sure how to handle this situation, but I'm trying to contain myself as much as possible and not make a big deal over it. I know if I make a fuss over it it will only make it worse. It is funny to hear her talk about him, which is EVERY afternoon!

I went and ate lunch with her today and he had to get in line right beside her, so I think it's a mutual thing. In fact I know it is because his mom has told another friend of mine that he talks about Carrie too.

I've got to pray hard that she is not going to be boy crazy and if she is that Michael doesn't kill a boy!!!

A couple of recipes

Here are a couple of recipes that I cooked this weekend...they were good and I thought I'd share them.

Breakfast Casserole
12 slices of bread
butter
1 lb. sausage (brown ahead) I used 1/2 mild and 1/2 hot sausage
1/2 lb. cheese (could use more than this)
6 eggs (beaten)
3 3/4 milk-add to the eggs and mix

Layer 6 pieces of bread in a greased 9X13 in. casserole dish. Butter the bread and place butter side up. Layer half of sausage over bread, then half cheese, then pour half of egg/milk mixrue over this. Repeat sequence with buttered bread, sausage, cheese and egg/milk mixture. Bake at 325 for 1 hour. Put dish on cookies sheet while baking (to keep casserole moist place the casserole dish in a little larger dish that has about an inch of water in it.)

Banana Bread
2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/3 cups mashed over ripe bananas (6 or 7 bananas)
Preheat oven to 350. lightly grease a 9x5 in loaf pan. (I use 2 smaller loaf pans)
Put flour in a large bowl.In a large bowl cream butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs and bananas until well blended (I mixed all this with my mixer and it was fine) stir banana mixture into flour until moistened. Pour batter into loaf pan(s).
Bake in preheated oven for 60-65 min or until toothpick comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 min remove to wire rack.

This was great banana bread and so very simple.

Hope you enjoy these recipes!!!

Carrie's 1st day of Kindergarten

The morning started off a little rocky, but we made it to school on time and almost every hair was in place!!! Andrew wet himself right before we walked out of the door to take Carrie to school and so of course I had to get him to the bathroom and then changed...I was on edge by that point!!!

We made it to school before 8 am and walked in the classroom. Carrie clung to my leg for just a minute and then finally sat in her seat and began doing her classwork that Mrs. Page had for them to do. I gave her a hug and left...no tears from either of us, that was an accomplishment!!!!

By lunch time I was missing her and wondering how her day was going, but I knew she was in great hands. I laid Andrew down for his nap and then I went to cleaning bathrooms...got them all clean, yeah!!!! After I got done I woke Andrew up, who was not ready to awaken, and we headed to the school to get Carrie. I had no idea what she'd say or how she'd act. Well she got in the car and the first words out of her mouth were "Mommy I like Kindergarten!" I was relieved!! She talked nonstop for about an hour about school and what all she had done and talked about her friends. I know it's going to be a great year for her!!! I still can not believe that she is in kindergarten, time has truly flown by!!!

Mommy is sick...what do you do with the kids?!?

How often does a mommy get sick? Well, mommy has been sick for the past 3 days and it has been so hard trying to figure out what to do with the kids! Michael was great as soon as he got home from work yesterday he took them to the tennis courts and played with them until bedtime, then he put them in bed and cleaned up for me. He was a great husband!! Today one of the youth from church came and helped with the kids..she was a true Godsend!! Michael has had a tennis tournament all weekend, he has been organizing it for months, so he has been gone all day. Another one of my friends, Karla Sidey, came and got the kids for the night. So now mommy gets to sleep and is hoping to be all better in the morning.
Being sick is the hardest thing for a mother because nothing stops just because you are sick, you have to still keep up with the kids, etc. Carrie would sit and watch TV or play on the computer all day, but not Andrew...he is still so active and needs entertaining.
I thank God for my friends that stepped up and helped out today!!!

Less than a week

I absolutely cannot believe that in less than a week my baby girl will be starting Kindergarten. We have Open House tomorrow, and I'm beginning to get anxious about it!! I think I'll be the one that can't sleep on Sunday night knowing my baby will be beginning her school career!! Are these feelings normal???

It feels like just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital, why is it that time feels to go by so slow when you are younger and now it just flies by?!?

I know that Carrie will do very good in kindergarten, but she is not excited about going! She keeps saying that she wants to stay home with mommy and Andrew...pray she has a great day Monday and gets excited about school!!!
