A Day at the Capitol

Today was a bittersweet day for our family...Papa had his final session as Georgia State Representative. He was the Chaplain for the day, which means he gave the opening devotional and prayer, and fortunately we all got to go be there to support him. Aunt Christina and Colt even got to go, Matthew had to work and tried to get off, but couldn't. We awoke very early, leaving the house by 5:45 am to make it to Atlanta before session began at 9 am. We had a big day and now I'm overly tired...hope I sleep good tonight! I'm glad we had this opportunity to visit our beautiful State Captiol!

My birthday weekend

For my birthday I went home to be with family, it was lots of fun! We were busy all weekend...Friday night we were in the Rose Parade with my in-laws, Saturday night we had dinner at my dad's, and Sunday we went to church and then ate lunch at Grandma's. After lunch Summer came over and brought me a yummy Carrot Cake and then we headed north. It was a great weekend, glad I got to go home for my birthday! Here are a few pics from this weekend...

Vote for my papa, Mike Keown

My father-in-law, Mike Keown, is running for US Congress in GA (District 2) against Sanford Bishop. My sister-in-law, Christina, had some shirts made for the grandkids to wear that say "Vote for My Papa." They are too cute! We are so proud of Papa and what he is doing to try to make this country a better place for us and our children! It is all so very exciting! If you are in that district get out and vote in the primaries on July 20th....vote MIKE KEOWN!!!!

Spring Break

During our spring break we headed to Thomasville for the weekend and that was fun! I was able to do a little campaigning with the Keown's, which I thouroughly enjoyed...wish I was closer so I could do more. We also went to a fish fry at my dad's house, which was delicious, as always! It was a quick weekend, but fun!
We headed back up to Clayton on Monday afternoon because Michael had tennis practice on Tuesday morning to get ready for Region Tournament, which was Thursday.
Tuesday the kids and I, along with Kathy, Seth and Luke Meadows headed to Tallulah Gorge State Park, which is absoluetly beautiful. We had a picnic and then went to the Jane Hurt Interpretative Center after that we walked a short trail and then to the park to play...we couldn't have asked for better weather!
The rest of the week was just kind of play it by ear, but it was fun! We had a movie day at the Meadows' house and then to the park oneday. It was a good week spending time with family and friends! I'm not really looking forward to school starting back on Monday, but school will soon be out for the summer! I'm ready for that!

Papa and KK visit

It is always nice to have company...wish our house was bigger and we could have more company, maybe oneday! Papa and KK came up for a visit during their spring break last week. The kids were so excited to see them (they asked me every morning for the last week if they were going to be here today). They came up Monday afternoon and stayed through Wednesday. During their visit we went and ate lunch with Carrie, went to the Creamery for ice cream (yum), took Andrew to Tallulah Falls, KK and I had a mani/pedi done (that was a nice treat for me), and went to a tennis match. All in all it was a great visit! The kids had such a good time with their grandparents, I'm so happy that my children have that special bond with their grandparents and want them around, I know these relationships will be treasured as they grow older. The kids hated to see them leave, but they did get to see them the very next weekend because we made a surprise visit to Thomasville for the weekend, which was exciting again for all! Here are a few pictures from our trip to Tallulah Falls...it was absolutely gorgeous the day we decided to go. Andrew had a blast and I think KK and Papa did too! Until next time....

"The Time Traveler's Wife"

The most recent book I completed was "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. This was a very interesting book. It took me a while to get into it, there were times when I was reading it that I thought I'm never going to finish this book, but I kept plugging along. I did like the characters in the book, Clare and Henry, and I think that's the main reason I kept reading because I wanted to find out what happend to them. It took me a while to figure out what was going on in this book, Henry is a time traveler and he can be in two time periods at one time...hard to wrap your mind around that! For instance, at one point he was 8 and 32 at the same time...his older self was visiting his younger self, strange, huh?!?

I'm not sure I would suggest you reading this one, unless you just want something different to read. There were also places in this book that were a tad vulgar, so take that into consideration if you choose to read this book, I'm warning you! Now that I've read the book I want to watch the movie to compare, my guess is the book is better, that's just usually the case in my opinion! If you read this let me know what you think!

What a glorious Easter

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday! The kids enjoyed getting their Easter baskets from the Easter bunny and then going to church. Carrie was so funny she said we didn't have to go to church because it was a holiday...I explained to her that yes, it was a holiday but it is a celebration of our Jesus rising from the dead. She said she already knew that but didn't know why we had to go to church, but was okay with going. It was cute! We had a great church service my handbell choir played 2 selections and played along with the hymns, they did a great job! After church we went to a friend's house for dinner, it was delicious! We also hid eggs with the kids and they had so much fun! It has been a great day of celebration...thank you Lord for Jesus' Resurrection! Below are a few pictures from our morning...
